Beat the Monday Blues and get job hunting

In 2005, a travel company claimed to have calculated the most depressing day of the year as part of a campaign to get people to book summer holidays. The equation considered the weather conditions, the number of hours of darkness, personal debt levels, time until pay day, time since Christmas, time since breaking new year’s resolutions, low motivation going back to work and probably how much weight you’ve put on, how far through Dry January you’ve got and the last time the cat threw up on the carpet! Anyway, the answer is the third Monday in January and although the equation was completely flawed, Blue Monday stuck!

It now marks a day where we decide to take positive action and for many that will include deciding that it’s time to change job. January is generally considered one of the best times to look for a job as many companies are starting their new financial year and have considered the new roles they want to fill for the year ahead
